Kent, Garden of England: An Exhibition of garden landscape photography

30 August 2018

Region: London

'Kent, Garden of England’, is an exhibition of garden landscape photography by London RPS Member David Lewis ARPS.   This is David's seventh exhibition, but his first in Bromley.   On this occasion he is showing some of his work from an ongoing project to photograph Kent's major public gardens.

David writes:  I moved to Orpington from North London four years ago and in that time have visited and photographed many of Kent's delightful public gardens.  The project is ongoing and eventually I hope to produce a photobook of the work.

I'm a keen amateur photographer with a wide range of photographic interests and photography has been an interest most of my life.  My previous solo exhibitions, all in North London, covered a diverse range of traditional and contemporary subjects. This exhibition sees the return to a more traditional subject, inspired by the memory of my Late mother, a successful botanical artist who encouraged me to exhibit my work.   I've also contributed to several group exhibitions including the Royal Photographic Society South-East London Group, the Central London-based Viewfinders group and Bromley Camera Club.  I'm an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS), gaining my ARPS Distinction in contemporary photography in 2009.

David dedicates this exhibition to the hard work of the women and men who have created and maintained these beautiful gardens.

Here are a couple more of David's pictures to whet your appetite.:

The Exhibition can be seen at the Ripley Arts Centre, 24 Sundridge Avenue, Bromley BR1 2PX Tel: 020 8464 5816 until 14th September 2018.  The Centre is open from 9am to 4pm weekdays but please phone to check before travelling in case the space is being used for a private function.
