23rd November – Selection Day for the 2019/2020 Exhibition

Don’t miss out on having a picture in our 2019/2020 Exhibition.

Bring along four printed and mounted images to the London Bridge Hive, 1 Melior Place, London SE1 3SZ and be part of the selection process.  We hope to include one image from each member in the exhibition.

Sign up by following the blue button above and bring a friend or partner for what we expect will be a fun day.  Pictures will be selected by those present, who will vote for the image from each individual, which they like best.  There is a small entry fee (£10) for people submitting pictures to go towards the costs of this day and the Exhibition:  guest are foc.

Arrangements for those who need help with printing and mounting their images, or who cannot come on the day but wish to put their work forward, are suggested below.

Who is Eligible?  Anyone who is a London Region Member, or who has nominated London Region as their preference.

What images should I submit?

Submit four images.

Any subject (wildlife, landscape, street, portraiture, contemporary etc. etc)

New work is preferred but not essential

Must be suitable for a family audience

Work should not have been exhibited in a major RPS Exhibition before but work which has been exhibited in sub-group exhibitions is fine.

How should my pictures be mounted, what size should they be?

Prints will be exhibited in RPS standard frames and should therefore be mounted to an external measurement of 50x40cm (or 40x50cm) – to fit in the frames in which they will be exhibited.

Prints can be any size within that frame size (portrait, landscape, square ….) but we strongly recommend that they do not exceed 36x26cm (or 26x26cm for square).

Mounts must be soft coloured (e.g. white, antique white, snow white) and can be plain or textured – your choice.

A thin sheet of backing card may be used to make your print and mount more rigid, but please make sure that it is not too bulky.

  • Prints should be labelled on the back with
    • Picture Title
    • Your Name and qualification/s
    • RPS Membership Number
    • A contact phone number
    • An e-mail address

Selection Process/Delivery of prints

The selection process should be fun and, as stated above, one image will be selected for display from each Member by vote of those present. We encourage you to bring your prints with you on the day if you can. .   If that is not possible, have you a friend who will bring them for you?

Alternatively, you may deliver them to any of our regular monthly meetings:

22nd October at the Greenwich Gallery (SE London).   Link here

11th November at the Canonbury Tavern (N London).  Link here

12th November at the Prince of Wales, Putney (SW London)   Link here

Another option is for you to drop your pictures off during the day on 16th November at the London Bridge Hive, where we are holding an Advisory Session.   Link here.:

Failing the above, you can deliver the pictures to my home (Wimbledon SW19 by arrangement.   If you want to use this option please e-mail me privately and I will send details and directions! ).

Printing and Mounting of your Pictures

If you are not used to printing and mounting your own pictures, please do not hesitate to e-mail me (londonro2@rps.org) and we can help with advice over the phone or by e-mail or can give you the names of some companies members have used.   We are also happy to help with printing and mounting from home, for a small fee.

Just one last thing about the day.   For refreshments/supplies there are opportunities at London Bridge Station and around.  There are also pubs and coffee shops to be found.  The venue provides teas and coffees/tea and coffee making facilities and you are welcome to bring along your own lunch/refreshments if you wish.  The venue has level access throughout.
