The Bookworm Club which meets monthly, has introduced an exciting new format for the meetings. Instead of discussing sections of one book for a few meetings, the group is now focusing on a different photographer each month, introduced by one or two members of the group.

For the March meeting Jennifer Hurstfield and Jennette Russell will introduce the work of one of the most intriguing American street photographers: Vivian Maier, who worked as a nanny and kept her photography secret. Her vast archive was only discovered by chance.  We will be looking at the book, Vivian Maier, Street Photographer edited by John Maloof, with a foreword by Geoff Dyer. There is also a fascinating documentary on DVD called: Finding Vivian Maier, by John Maloof and Charlie Siskel. But if you don’t have access to either of these, you will find plenty of background information on the internet including the website: http://www.vivianmaier.com/

Do come along and join the discussion. We will be meeting in a private room in a lovely pub just off Fleet Street: The Harrow, Whitefriars Street, EC4Y 8JJ. The pub has good food if you’d like to eat as well as drink!
