Whether you are working digitally, using film or experimenting with more traditional processes, all subjects, genres and styles of photography can be entered into many of our competitions, grants and bursary opportunities. The majority are open to both members and non-members.

RPS Postgraduate Bursary

As part of The Society’s remit as an educational charity we offer an annual bursary of £3,500 in support of a postgraduate student studying in the UK or abroad.

The Royal Photographic Society Historical Group is pleased to announce the 2016/2017 Hall Marriott Essay Competition, with prizes of £100 and £50 awarded for the two best essays in the field of the history of photography and for those under 25 years of age.

Administered by The Society in partnership with The Guardian. The Joan Wakelin Bursary offers £2000 for the production of a photographic essay on an overseas social documentary issue.

Student Funding

There is funding available for Society Events. This funding is to enable student photographers to attend selected Society Regional and Group events that they would not normally be able to afford.
